Highlander Remake is back on the table. Funny, I was told there could be only one..

Let’s start this off with the one question that matters. Why? I have no idea why this is even an option.

So Summit Entertainment is working on what they called a re-imagining of the classic movie Highlander. They claim they want to expand on the original Highlanders mythology.I don’t see why any expansion is necessary for the film, but what do I know I’m not sitting in on these brainstorming sessions.

The thing that really bothers me is that Summit has hired Melissa Rosenberg to write the screenplay for the remake. Although she has written for The Outer Limits, Hercules:The Legendary Journeys and Dexter she is also the writer for all of the Twilight screenplays. Now some people were saying that this might be a good thing because she’s good at dealing with immortal characters. The problem with that is the characters of Twilight are far off from the characters that live in the Highlander universe. Now it’s being said that she should be given a chance because she knows how to combine romance and action and she is used to the immortal character. To be honest though Twilight isn’t a great franchise realistically. I mean sure it has a large fan base but it’s a very certain fan base. Maybe I’m just being bias to her because I dislike Twilight.

Do I think she can do it? I guess only time will tell. Do I think they should continue with this remake? No.

We may never reach the Final Destination.

It seems that when it comes to this series, death can’t catch a break. It’s been eleven years since the first films debut . Like Childs Play, the Final Destination series has obtained more of a comedic tone rather than horror. Although unlike Childs Play ,which is rebooting their entire series, Final Destination is simply adding an installment to the series.

Even though the last film was titled The Final Destination, the franchise is still going strong. With the upcoming release of Final Destination 5 the creators are saying that the series is headed back to the same dark tone that the first one had. Also the creators say that if the movie does well than we can expect a sixth and seventh installment, which will be filmed back to back.

I still follow and enjoy the series and I know people that both love and hate it. Im excited to see where they go with this next installment. Depending on how much I enjoy it will determine if I see the following two. I don’t really know the cast well, aside from the veteran actors, so im not sure what to expect with the acting. I’ve seen Nicholas D’Agosto in Drive Thru, but that’s not the greatest horror film. I know with the last film the acting was a bit on the cheesy side and it felt like most of the work went into finding cooler ways to kill off the characters. I just hope they can bring it back to what made me love the first movie.

King to resurrect his horror queen in Carrie remake.

Lets start off with the fact that I don’t think this movie needs to be remade. I know that Stephen King is in talks with various people about various projects in development right now, but I didn’t think this was one of them. Sure I’m ok with a Creepshow remake because maybe they can do something new and exciting with it. Sure give me a full length feature of IT that is darker and closer to the book than the original TV mini series. When it comes down to certain films though, you should just leave them alone.

My main concern with the remake is who they would get to play Carrie. When you think of the IT TV mini series, there are two things that pop into your head. One is that god awful spider that they have to fight at the end as adults. The second and most important is that Tim Curry gave an amazing performance as Pennywise the clown. He owned that performance so well that I don’t know if there is anyone else that could play that part and be convincing. Which brings me to the point that it’s going to be just as hard to replace Sissy Spacek who had an Oscar nomination for this role. Now don’t get me wrong, I”m sure you could find one of the many great actress’ around right now to do a great job with this.

The fact that Stephen King said in an interview that he thought Lindsey Lohan would be a consideration for the role is what really made me think this was a bad idea. As if that wasn’t bad enough the next name to get thrown into the mix was none other than Megan Fox. In my honest opinion I don’t think that either of them have the talent to pull this role off. Let’s be honest here because we all saw I Know Who Killed Me or at least watched the trailer. Lindsey Lohan is far from the talent that it takes to make this role great. Megan Fox is even further from having the skill it takes as an actress to fill the shoes of Sissy Spacek. Anyone who saw Transformers or Jennifer’s Body can agree that she lacks the talent to even be considered a B-movie star. I know these two are only considerations and it’s not final that one of these actresses may get the role. I just think that there are much better considerations to be looked over before the final decision is made.

The Dark Tower film and tv adaptation

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King are a collection of, in my opinion, his best work. It was rumoured that J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof from Lost would adapt this series, but they have since stepped down from that. As of April 2010 the series picked up Akiva Goldsman and director Ron Howard to work on the adaptation. The series will be three films and two television series that will run in between the films to bridge the gaps of the films. As of right now the first of The Dark Tower series should be coming out in 2012.
As of 2009 only Christian Bales name has been mentioned as a rumor to who’s going to play Roland. In my opinion Christian Bale is not the actor who should be playing Roland at all. I hope that they find the perfect actors to play Roland and the other characters of the series and I hope they do an amazing job transitioning the books onto the big and small screens.
